I am grateful to be back for my tenth year at BVT as a full time company member and Associate Director! This show was so special to me because it was written by one of my best friends, Artistic Director and Resident Playwright at BVT Rachel Kay Curtiss! The play spans nearly 100 years, as we begin with Victoria Woodhull in the 1800s - the first woman to run for President of the United States. Next, we travel to the 1910s to learn about Nina McCall, just one of the thousands of women who were wrongfully imprisoned and poisoned from the American Plan laws. Finally, we end in 1940s with Valentine Goesaert and the story of another fight for equality - allowing women to own and operate their own bars. Working on a new play is always a unique and exciting challenge, and this play was no different! I also enjoyed collaborating with wig designer Rachel Grossman to help differentiate the different looks and time periods, particularly of the female characters.
